Tell me, what exactly is fun about farming for you?
I've always thought that having gold and rare items was just a bonus for having fun.

1.) Enchantment removing mobs are everywhere. Why even leave the enchantments in the game?
2.) Farming is gone to shizzle (in the words of Snoop Dogg). I farm for fun.
3.) It's easier to unlock things through PvP than PvE.
4.) People who win in the Hall of Heroes can make more money in a few fights than a PvE player can make in a day.

Maybe hes a pirate and loves booty arrrr
anyways, i agree Guild Wars wasnt exactly the game i though it would be (infact its almost opposite) and i only play it about a hour a day, as for the expantion pack, i guess ill buy it, unless they make a new Diablo or Starcraft at the same time as the expantion.. heh sorry anet
but i think for the $0 a month im paying this game is great... but it think people need to give GW some more time, its not even potty trained yet

Yes. More professions, maybe more races for PvP. (As long as they don't pull a Throne of Destruction and make Windforce bows and OMFG N00B U CAN"T BEET MY BARB I HAVE UBER ETHEREAL EXECUTONAR SORD OF CRUEL!)
So in other words, as long as they still keep the game balanced.
Though it'd be a shame if getting the storyline through PvE will become boring.

I cannot let this go untouched, do you imagine how many hours, days, heck, weeks, I personaly tested PvE missions/explorables!? To give you a nice estimation, I tested the first missions of the game (Ascalon), for a good over 3 months non-stop. And that dosen't stop to there, their are the other regions to! And those explorable missions!? 2 weeks before release we went on a test freek, checking everything, spawn points, errors, monsters to tough, invisible walls etc. If we missed something SORRY, we are still only humans, giving our free time to help out making this game great! True, some alphas may only be dooing PvP, all right, thats ok, but don't start assumptions with no core prrofs. Their are PvE testers, if you didn,t hear from them, thats bad, but don't worry, their are!
About the PvE getting boring after a while.. all right, you can think that. But do try to give suggestions/ideas, those are read and thought for. It's not only the Devs and Alphas that have the power to change the game! Heck, I say a good 75% of the pwoer goes to the players. Suggest new quests, new long time goals, anything! Even dumb ideas can make someone else think of other ideas, which would turn good at the end.
As to get back on topic, expansions... ahhh, yes, expansions are good! ^^ Their will be alot more, I'm sure... I really am! Maybe that dual weild, that Assassin class everyone ahs been talking of, or those super tough PvE quests? Only time will tell! So heck, sure it is worth it!
On a last note, don't forget about Sorrow's Furnace that will be a free update to the game this summer, you guys better buckle up, because the ride will be awesome!

To be honest I don't really see it suffering, possibly because I haven't played many hugely open ended mmorpgs. I still find most missions enjoyable to do after 4 times. I've moved onto liking pvp because I find it very enjoyable. I do some farming now and again to get some money for something. Arenanet only has to add a reasonable amount of pve and pvp content to get me interested.

Well this time I will actually see what features the expansion has that way I don't go and buy it because my friend told me it was good. It took me a while to actually enjoy this game, then I hated it for a while, and now I'm liking it again.
Enchantment removals are annoying. I can think of one enemy that can halt a stance, so my tactics are 16 all the time. Farm with a warrior and laugh.
Said it time and time again, gold has little value after superior vigor/absorption. You only need gold if you're obsessed with looks, and think a crystalline sword, chaos axe, or FoW armour makes you a better player. Might as well bring back farming so people buy the expansion, then you can nerf it again.
If I unlock something, meh. PvP bores me now. Might try it again now that my friends list outweighs my ignore so I'm not in so many PUGs. But I'm still ticked after spending many hours finally getting a group and winning the HoH, just to get some gladius I sold for 500 gold. All that time I wasted I could've earned the gold.
My problem is stupid little things in the game. A scorpion can set a trap but a griffin doesn't realize it can fly? Ditto for dragons...
Farming was the only thing PvE IMO that has as far as replay value. I always get the short end of the stick in the UW and FoW for drops, and I can get experience AND gold faster when I farm.
All games have their faults though. But I find the community to be the main reason I stick with this game. So I'd have to say thanks to everyone for that. Above all else, my main complaint is with cutscenes and the lack of lip movement. Remove the audio or make them move please...

If PvE doesnt turn around, not even the 2 new free areas will make me spend more money on this game.
I didnt buy the game for PvP, and I still have no intention of playing PvP while there are so few PvP options.

Sure I'll buy the expansion. At the most it will be $50.00. I have spent that much on other games and they are collecting dust. This game and Civ4 will be my gaming life for some time to come.

Not sure, from all indications the expansion won't be out for at least another 6 months or more. I don't plan my gaming that far in advance
Anyway ...

Good point, except when are you done? Ascension/L20? Nope still missions to do. OK, after Hell's precipice? Maybe but what about that 15k armor? Hey look 2 more missions fissure of woe and underworld ... sounds like fun, and nifty armor to boot! And it is fun, just finished killing things in UW with a 5-man team (4 after a d/c). Enjoyed the fighting and banter, good times, but there were no rewards and no progress toward that goal of getting the cool (but balanced) FoW armor. Yes out of the box PVE is like any other SP game with a limited life, but all those games provide rewards commensurate with the encounter level. Cutting out the reward component of this formula is what is bringing out some of the current animosity from the PVE crowd.
Just my 2 cents.

1) there are some mobs without enchantments.
2) don't blame it on ANet. blame it on the botusers. there are 2 options to take: always check for botters, or change the map. the first is from an economical point of view (for a no fee game!) maybe not realistic. so blame it on the botters.
3) this needs adjustment. i'd say skills are easier to unlock in pve, and max weapon upgrades in pvp. runes are somewhere in the middle. they take a whopping 4500 faction to unlock from minor to superior, so any unlockign from pve side is very welcome. also the ability to buy unid runes in pve should not be underestimated.
4) those are among the best pvp players. and the price of sigils has dropped as i predicted from the start. But take a look at yourself: can you hold the hoh? are you the very best of the pve players? there are quite some wealthy pve players also (millionaires). For the normal pvp minded, he earns jack shit.
how fair is that?
in summery: i disagree with you.

I might buy guild wars' next expansion depending on 1) if i have the cash (xbox 360 this winter, and ps3 next years... might get both) 2) if there more new thing added to guild wars overall fun factors (i mean no just some new maps, more quests or mission like this running back from point A to point B to kill the boss than run back to point A to talk to some dude and run to point C to get the rewards) What i want to see is different type of character, better weapons, more items to get, and please for god sake, make the character mouth move, it just freak me out when it don't move, and they (characters) just turn their head and all you can hear is voice coming out from it. Also one of the main point, try and make the boss monsters more different and not just making them big and glow different color. But rather make each boss and the final boss unique and fun to fight against. Oh one more thing, make sure there are different strategy involved in fighting boss instead of just running up there (if your a Elementlist) cost meteor storm follow up by fire storm than let the tanks do the work and have the monk heal like mad (yes this strategy will work 99.9% of the time when you see a boss monsters.. just use magic and let the tank fight close range and it will died)
As for farming, lately i been getting good items, two gold bows, one purple sword, one purple hammers, and bunch of blue items, and yes i did most of these drops with henchies while i was doing missions or quests. so i think a-net is trying to lighten up on nerfing and actually letting players to get good stuff.

In all honesty, i will compare the expansion with TES IV: Oblivion [Morrowind's Sequel for those that don't know] which will be coming out in the same time frame. So if i buy GW expansion it most probably won't be related to any PvE content, i mean i don't think they can do much more than we have now other than EXPAND on content.
Thus, new areas, new skills, new professions is about the gist of it with a few updates to things like artwork, items and the interface. I can't imagine Anet will use the expansion to adjust the gameworld as a whole [i.e. farming/economy/nerfing etc] that is what their monthly updates are for.
Besides they have to balance the expansion so that non-expansion players do not feel obligated to buy it but yet feel they WANT to buy it [if they change the gameworld/gamecore on a large scale in an expansion to such an extend that it "locks" non-expansion buyers out of the game then you can loose half your playerbase].
In other words, i'll buy the expansion PURELY based on PvP/social play [which is per definition not PvE].
Chances are if i want to PvE i'll not be playing GW expansion...heck even Dungeons and Dragons Online looks like it's using some ideas from GW [instances and getting xp from quests instead of mobs] , and that comes out like next month...

And don't try to explain it Disciple becuase I can't either. I also have a lot of fun farming. People ask how? Maybe its the luck of the draw or unlocking or even the large amounts of money involed. And for those who STILL call farming an exploit please do me a favor and ask why Anet made fissure armor so costly. Everyone getting fissure armor exploiters? I think not.....

1) Because they're strong, and because PvE is not the only focus of the game.
2) Good for you, now you have a harder life, me too, that's the rules of the game.
3) JPW (Just Plain Wrong): need 25 wins in HoH to unlock a minor rune or minor upgrade, or skill. Have you ever tried winning HoH?
4) Dunno, as long as people are wanting to buy sigils, that's probably true.
Me, I'll buy expansions. Hard core PvP AND hard core PvE players need to realize that this is not a PvE game; nor is it a PvP game. It is a mixture of the two, like it or not. I do like it: it was pretty clear in the advertisement tho, me thinks.

i will look at the info on the box, check the web and then think about it, and if PvE gets nothing more than a extra class and a few areas, porbably no...
if they add lots more stuff that both sides can unlock and use, including stuff like we have been sugesting (stuff fer guild halls, clothes, crafting, time waster stuff ect) then probably a big yeah.
oh, and Malchiel, what the frell is Now RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO off?
as to farming is fun, yeah, for some of us, a spot of farming *is* fun..not the dash in-dash out, raid chest, hit Mob, exit the map- rinse repeat type of farming, but the kind where you have an area you know and like and are comfortable in, and you go and kill a load of critters and look forward to what drops.
if you have set yourself a goal, like find one each of all 4 of the 5-7 damage elemental wands in pre searing befor moving on to Post, this is hard to do unless you stay for a while and look for drops.
i personaly enjoy cleaning out smalllll sections of a map for the fun and for the joy of the different items i see. if i just stuck to the same items, day in and day out, i will get bored of them, but if i look at lots of wepons, i can not only find ones i like, but maybe find ones that will work better with my other charaters too.

This is true. Doesn't mean there's more to spend the gold on. They'll have the most money in storage and all-black fissure armor, though.
FWIW, I'll likely buy any expansion.

ugh worthless babble... pvp has endless capablities, pve doesnt, so if you want a longer lasting game that upholds more enjoyment, go pvp. if you really like your farming, go pve; there are a few good spots left *not saying a word* but walk though every square inch of this game, kill everything, if you see a gold item drop, do the same place about 5 times to see if it was luck or the monster type had a fixed high % on droping gold items and you got yourself a farm spot. either way, any new updates would need to add to pvp to really be an update, because pve is directly tied with pvp so new armors, new races (hopefully *and if you could play as a charr *) it would definatly change both worlds compleatly. but either way, i'll buy the update because anet did a damn good job on this game, and they deserve a tip
see, babble is fun and can go on forver and i doubt many will even read though because of a lack of caring. but either way, this thread was just for 1 person to voice his views and now we are flaming him for it, he asked for it, we answered
<3 and peace peeps!
